The Mountain Legend

In the land of the Giant Mountains, a mysterious mountain spirit, as old as the rocks themselves, has captured the imagination of many generations from old to young. The ‘Lord of the Mountains’ is a trickster, capable of transforming into any shape, size, or form he pleases. He loves nature and has tender feelings for all creatures and kind people. He teaches lessons to those mistreating and taking advantage of others.

Since the mid-16th Century, stories about the legend of Rübezahl (German), Krakonos (Czech), Liczyrzepa (Polish) have been told and kept alive. 

The character underwent many transformations over the years. Early on, he was portrayed as a mischievous, sometimes mean, giant. In modern times, he represents a kind-hearted protector of the natural land and good people. 

I was inspired by the more recent embodiment of the Legend to create this image. The mountain man is overlooking the vast land with a gentle expression but with determination to protect and keep peace. He wants to encourage us to use our strength responsibly and wisely to create personal freedom and peaceful coexistence.

The owl symbolizes knowledge, wisdom, and self-realization, all virtues needed to protect our earth and its inhabitants.

May the Mountain Legend inspire us to live life with courage, love, and joy to create lasting peace within and without.
